Father Meninger was one of the founders of the Centering Prayer movement (along with Thomas Keating and Basil Pennington) and has written widely and recorded numerous audiotapes on contemplative prayer. Fr. Meninger grew up in the Boston area. He entered the Trappist monastery at Spencer, Massachusetts in 1963 where, in 1974, he originated the workshops on Centering Prayer which he now teaches worldwide along with workshops on Forgiveness, the Enneagram, Sacred Scripture, and Prayer. In 1979 he was transferred to St. Benedict’s Monastery in Snowmass, where he has remained. He spent three years in Israel where he studied scripture and taught at the Center for Biblical Studies in Jerusalem and at the Trappist Monastery at Latroun. Father William leaves the monastery only four times a year in order not to lose his own monastic orientation while sharing it with others. Where is Holy Trinity Episcopal Church?
