What are the Details of the Retreat?
The workshop will begin at 10:00 a.m. and end at 3:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church in Greensboro. Gail will share her journey into the life of silence and service with Fr. Thomas Keating over the past three decades and her emergence as the leader of the Centering Prayer movement as well as Centering Prayer practices. The cost of the one day seminar is $55 which includes lunch. The cost for those participants who are registered for Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler’s weekend retreat is $25. Online registrations add $2.50 to cover payment processing fees. Who is Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler? Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler is the President of Contemplative Outreach, Ltd. founded by Fr. Thomas Keating. Led by her desire to make transformation through Centering Prayer available to others, she has served as a founding member of Contemplative Outreach, on its Board of Trustees, as Executive Director and now as President. Gail attended the first formative Centering Prayer retreat that Fr. Thomas Keating offered at the Lama Foundation in San Cristobal, New Mexico in 1983. Gail also is a mother, grandmother and had a private psychotherapy practice from 1982-1992, all at a time when she was engaging more deeply in the practice of Centering Prayer and laying the foundations for what would become the worldwide community of Contemplative Outreach. She understands the difficulties of balancing the activities of an ordinary life with the attraction to silence, solitude and service. St. Francis Springs Weekend Retreat October 16-18 There is a small waiting list for Gail Fitzpatrick-Hopler’s weekend retreat at St Francis Springs Prayer Center on October 16-18. The theme of the retreat is “Centering Prayer and the Way of Silence”. The retreat begins at dinner on Friday and ends after lunch on Sunday. Day rates (no lodging) are still available for additional retreatants. What is Contemplative Outreach of Central and Eastern North Carolina? The vision of Contemplative Outreach of Central and Eastern North Carolina (CO/CENC) is to foster the process of transformation in Christ in one another through the practice of Centering Prayer.
